President Obama Sings the Blues With the Late BB King

President Obama Sings 'Sweet Home Chicago' With the Late BB King

While we’re paying tribute to the late BB King, I can’t resist sharing this moment when President Obama took the stage with the legendary blues-man.  When Mick Jagger hands you the Mic, you’ve got to sing!  The song appropriately is ‘Sweet Home Chicago’ and the event was the White House Red, White and Blues event in 2012.

The President and the King  are backed by a star-studded band. Mick Jagger, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, Derek Trucks , Warren Haynes,Keb ‘Mo, Gary Clark Jr., Trombone Shorty and Shamika Copeland all gave house rocking performances.
On May 15, President Obama wrote about the passing of Riley B. King, or B.B. King:

“The blues has lost its king, and America has lost a legend. B.B. King was born a sharecropper’s son in Mississippi, came of age in Memphis, Tennessee, and became the ambassador who brought his all-American music to his country and the world. No one worked harder than B.B. No one inspired more up-and-coming artists. No one did more to spread the gospel of the blues.”
