Republican Lies and Hyperbole about Size of Health Care bill

The Republicans have jumped on the talking point band wagon that  the Health care bill is big and bad, just as big and bad as the American Government is big and bad.

These Republicans in congress are playing the game using over sized ropes to carry it over their shoulders, bringing it to the floor in overflowing wheel barrels, taping it together sheet by sheet to unravel down the Capitol steps. Each making it bigger and badder by having their staff print it out on office printers with increased margins and font sizes, making the point again and again that the health care like the American Government is big and bad.

There there are the facts:

George W. Bush’s No Child Left Behind bill was 280,000 words compared to this Health Care which is 320,000 or 11% bigger.

The bill like all bills is printed 14pt double spaced with wide margins for comment.

The bill was entered into the Congressional Record single spaced with standard margins at 290 pages.

Republican Flat Out Lies:

Republicans cry insistently  that it is bigger than War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy! War and Peace is 600,000 words the Health Care bill is 320,000 words. Republicans saying the bill is bigger than War and Peace is a FLAT OUT LIE.

Republicans claim the health care bill weighs more than an average American can even carry. It is 4 reams of #20 weighing in at 20 pounds, which is about the average weight of carry-on luggage. Republicans saying an average American cannot lift 20 pounds is a FLAT OUT LIE.

While I am at this, also keep in mind that Republicans want the 911 terrorists tried and executed in secret, believe a free market trumps Health Care, stands behind the use of torture, thinks we don’t have enough guns on the streets and 100% of them in the Senate voted against to even discuss Health Care Reform. What KIND OF PEOPLE are these?  One thing is sure, I wouldn’t want them around any children…
