Though the House of Representatives passed legislation yesterday 234 – 194 to do away with the onerous bigotry inherent in the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell process in our military – and in Senate committee 16 to 12 – Republicans vow to filibuster it in the Senate. 5 Republicans in the House and one in the Senate committee crossed over to vote with the humans. The planned Senate filibuster would include 100% of Republican Senators by definition. Senate panel, House approve don’t ask, don’t tell compromise plan
A reminder that when Republicans use the words "freedom" and "liberty" they are only talking about their wallets, their holsters and themselves.
A reminder of just how crazy Log Cabin Gay Republicans must be. Boggles the mind. But I suppose it too is a genetic issue where hating to pay taxes trumps even self preservation in some. [I am torn over which is the driving force of American politics; hating to pay taxes or the bigotry? It does seem to be a mix of the two for if this were an all white nation we would have passed single payer national health care 50 years ago.]
A reminder that if these Republicans are correct, then "our troops" are a bunch of ignorant homophobic wankers who need to be shown the door to the unemployment lines back home.
I reminder that the father of conservatism Barry Goldwater told then President Clinton not to compromise with Don’t Ask Don’t Tell but to allow gays in the military – and if anyone didn’t like it, generals or troops, fire them. Goldwater on Gays in the Military
A reminder that a vote for Republicans is not only a vote for an intolerant and bigoted way of life, but an acceptance that our intellectual leaders are the likes of Sister Sarah McPalin, certified nutcake Glenn Beck, and high morons Sean Hannity and Joe the Plumber. Gosh… We are the stupid.
