“You know what, when I stand behind you and I put my arms around you, and I put my hands on your breasts, and I put my hands on you, Hey, I love that too, putting my hands under you, if we’re gonna do what we did the other day we are going to have to start locking the door” Governor Robert Bentley recorded talking on the phone to his long time political adviser and mile high club partner Rebekah Caldwell Mason about having to lock the door of the governor’s office to do again whatever they did the day before.
Though in a press conference Governor Bentley admits to sexual talk on the phone, he denies any “physical affair” with married mother of three Rebekah Caldwell Mason. Mason avoids any mention of the sexual issue to say it is just ugly sexism directed at her by some men in law enforcement.
Bentley’s wife of 50 years, Diane Bentley filed for divorce which went final the other day and became the impetus of this story. She claims it was over this affair which she says she knew about from numerous overheard phone conversations and text messages, adding that the sex acts were often acted upon in the Governor’s Alabama owned jet. Which makes it a crime. More at Legal Schnauzer
To put this in the light of why this is a story, this from Bentley on the campaign trail:
“Anybody here today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, I’m telling you, you’re not my brother and you’re not my sister.”
Why is this story hitting the news cycle when it is just another in an endless stream of Christian / Republican hypocrisy when we all know hypocrisy does not matter one wit to Evangelical Christians or Republicans? I think it’s the age thing, 72 and still grabbing ass. Hear! Here! I suppose in the spirit of political correctness I have to add he only grabs ass that wants to be grabbed. Or is that political incorrectness? Oh, it’s all so confusing.
