The first paragraph of the latest column from the Prince of Darkness is the first paragraph for good reason, it defines the get out the vote issue of the 2008 election process. It begins:
Bad news just keeps on coming for the Grim Old Party
During the summer, a female acquaintance of mine in her 70s who had been a faithful Republican was solicited by a GOP cold caller as a previous contributor to the party. Not this time. She informed the fund-raiser that President Bush’s position on immigration was the last straw. She would not give the Republicans another dime — not now, maybe never. So, she told him, "Stop calling me!"
Well there you have it. The wealthy ladies of the GOP no longer support George Bush or the Party because they are not conservative enough. War, torture, lies, snooping, corruption and men’s room sex are no problem. Hispanics encroaching upon their lily white world, major problem. Blacks are bad enough for Republicans, but because of that damn constitution crap they can’t do much other than keep pounding on their 30 year fight against Affirmative Action. But they have an ace in the hole with this new race card in play, deja vu – they can once again hide their bigotry, intolerance and petty hatreds behind the Rule of Law canard.
Is there any other reason other than ethnic cleansing to rid America of these 12 million families? Is this fine Republican lady really concerned about these workers not having the correct paperwork you think? Come on. Does she want to see hotel beds go unmade, windows unwashed and her table at the yacht club unbused? Hardly. Does she want lettuce left unpicked, roofs leaking and lawns overgrown? No way. Is she mad as Hell about unemployment at the bottom of the work force? Are you kidding me? Is she upset that runned-over Mexicans get to go to the hospital without making payments in the street first? Could be. Is she really afraid that Jose is going to nuke her Country Club? That is ridiculous. Does she dislike these people because they have better work ethics and family values than she does? Possibly. But none of that really matters a wit to Mrs. GOP Money Bags.
This is all about one thing, the New and Improved American version of ethnic cleansing. And anyone who can watch Lou Dobbs, listen to Tom Tarncedo, or go to davidduke.com and deny that ethnic bigotry is at the root of this, is then part of the problem. The solution is simple, let them build their dumbass feel good wall, and like Ronald Reagan did in 1986, give those here a Green Card and be done with it.
This is going to become the central issue in the coming Presidential election because it’s the only elephant the GOP has left in the stable.They wore out the Gay Marriage issue in 2004, and this is even better for them as this bigotry crosses political barriers. The last week before November 4th is going to swell with GET OUT THE VOTE to GET OUT THE MEXICANS pounding on doors just as they did last time in Southern Ohio with Gay Marriage. That campaign gave us another four years of the dumbest occupant of the White House in history. Ethnic cleansing, damn right.
