Those of us who believed Sarah Palin’s star had fallen, have another think coming according to John Fugelsang, who appeared with Michael Eric Dyson on MSNBC. “She does for the GOP what Jar Jar Binks did for Star Wars Episode 1.” Fugelsang said…And this is a big one. “She distracts the easily amused from a total lack of narrative.” He continued, “She is still a king-maker and everybody wants her endorsement.”
Palin recently plugged her War on Christmas book in Iowa at the Faith and Freedom Conference. Bill O’Reilly covered this tired territory 5 years ago, but as Fugelsang rightly said, “Telling people who are the religious majority they’re an abused minority will never make you go broke.”
Expect to see Palin making the rounds talking about her pet issue with a book someone else wrote for her. Those who still gush that she gives speeches ‘without a teleprompter’ (and they do) believe that Sarah produces these volumes unaided but for a sprinkle of pixie dust. It would be as cruel to tell them about ghost writers, as it would be to tell a tot there is no Santa…And, they’d never believe you.
I would bet good money on Fugelsang’s prediction that Palin will “be the first-ever major party ticket candidate to one day host a cosmetics infomercial.” This is not snark. Fugelsang said,” her job for now, is to keep herself in the public eye, and she’s very good at doing that.” Amen. Just as the old saying that ‘there is no such thing as bad publicity’ declares, it doesn’t matter whether she looks silly, vindictive or uninformed…Palin’s staying power cannot be disputed.
Palin Pals and conservative pundits will take this discussion between Fugelsang and Dyson badly, however the two do salute Sarah Palin! John Fugelsang called her “a hero to gullible conservatives, smart liberals, and all comedians,” further adding “I hope she runs!”
So do we all, and to all a good-night.
