On Late Night with Seth Meyers, Sarah Palin weighed in on whether or not America should be taking in Syrian refugees. While information on vetting practices abounds, I suspect you know better than to hope Sarah Palin will lead her fellow Teabaggers out of darkness. If nothing else, this interview proves that rational and factual information does no good when it’s dispensed from sources which are not affiliated with the right wing.
The documented information about the threat risk from refugees, which is so small as to be almost non-existent. Still, Palin (and 31 governors) believe terrorists lurk within refugee groups, just waiting to slip in, due to our lack of a vetting process. Corrected by Seth, who pointed out the process is quite stringent and takes as long as 23 months, Palin ‘corrected’ him by pointing out that you can’t trust the federal government. Point taken, and consider the source.
The interview was fairly straight-forward and non-combative. Perhaps Ms Palin doesn’t realize that Seth Meyers wrote Tina Fey’s famous SNL sketches portraying her as a ditzy sidekick to presidential candidate John McCain?
