It’s wonderful to be able to say that Sarah Palin has won something fair and square, and in this category the competition is hot and heavy, but no serious competition for Palin! To achieve this high honor she had to stick with it, and as you’ll see, if there’s one thing she hasn’t quit, and has continued to perfect it is spreading fibs, falsehoods, fabrications, or more aptly – blatant lies. One of her very special creations this year was named "The Lie of the Year"
Palin’s creation, Death Panels.
It’s not the Nobel Peace Prize, but no one is going to hotly dispute that Palin’s creation, the words "Death Panel" went viral, so to speak. Her Facebook entry posted in August, and completely devoid of fact, suddenly created the death panel she described and made it real in the minds of her inexplicable fans who believe her, and those who quoted her, mainly right wing pundits who thought any lie was a good one if it disparaged Obama’s health care bill. Why am I writing in past tense, there is still mention of it being made!
This award from Politifact was no walk in the park! There was stiff competition. I won’t give away the story by stating what her competition said, the video links her competition with their contributions. I will mention that Palin won over such luminaries as Orly Tate devoted birther, Joe Wilson R-SC,
Glenn Beck Fox Loon, and Chuck Grassley of Iowa, all with their own bizarro lies!
Margaret Carlson joins the discussion and will give you a mind spinning example of Palin reasoning. When pressed to answer for what is now known to be a lie, her death panel creation – she gives an answer involving Ronald Reagan and
classic Palin logic…a definite don’t miss! If there is a most quotable competition next year, she may well be a shoo-in with this explanation, it’s right up there with seeing Putin "rear his head" from her Alaskan back yard.
I may be laughing now, but Carlson reminds us that Palin still has a very broad base of devoted fans. They buy her books, ignore her foibles, and have no idea that she’s lying. All of the "news" they need is on Palin’s Face Book page or Fox "news," now that’s truly frightening.
