Seth Meyers examines the subtle nuances in style which define Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton’s preparations for the first anxiously-awaited presidential debate. The Washington Post employed great detail in describing the preparations of each presidential hopeful. Perhaps Hillary should heed the advice John Kasich’s adviser gave him before the primary debate last year: “Imagine a NASCAR driver mentally preparing for a race, knowing one of the drivers will be drunk. That’s what preparing for this debate is like.”
A brief comparison finds the advisers for the two candidates are very different. Hillary is in constant preparation. For advice, she internalizes tips from the most seasoned debate coaches in her party. Trump has Roger Ailes, Rudy Guiliani and Stephen Bannon for counsel – when they can meet to chat at a golf course. It is said that the A-Hole Team provides ‘zingers’ for Trump – certain to devastate Clinton.
Clinton clearly expects a traditional debate format. It is said,”Trump is preparing like it’s a reality show. He wants to be a showstopper at the Roman Colosseum, the main event at Wrestle Mania.”
Can something this good truly happen? The right moderators must be found, the debate can’t be ‘rigged’ – and barring that, business may call Trump away to Mexico!
