In 2011, Seth Meyers roasted Donald Trump – and others at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, and I for one, and having a great time reliving the moment. At the time, Trump was the leader of the Birther movement, and of course ‘candidate Trump, version 2016’ had yet to be launched. If Trump was uncomfortable in close proximity to the President, whom he called a liar he didn’t show it. However, when Seth began his roast, it’s clear that a good time was had by all – but Donald Trump. It should be pointed out that Trump was just one of many mentioned by Meyers that night, but he was the only one who listened in stony-faced silence.
Trump later hurled a heated epithet at Seth Meyers. It wasn’t witty or funny,it was emotional and unthinking and it came from Trump’s easily bruised ego. The Trump we’ve come to know didn’t hit his target, but he did insult an entire group of people. Their response to Trump came quickly. “Shame on you, Mr. Trump!” said Jane Fraser, president of the National Stutterer’s Foundation “We at the Stuttering Foundation find it discouraging that in 2011, Donald Donald Trump has chosen to use the word ‘stutterer’ in a derogatory fashion, something to be made fun of, to describe Seth Meyers’ speech.”
The line forms here, under the NSF and it’s a long one!
