At the end of this sketch Baldwin and McKinnon go out of character to the streets of New York to hug and kiss Trump supporters as well as Clinton supporters. I noticed an I AM WITH HER shirt and a TRUMP THAT BITCH shirt. That right there should define the difference between the sides in this election. The bright, the ligh, and positive versus the dark, the nasty and the negative. It is about the KIND OR PERSON one is, which is very hard and near impossible to change. It is only going to get worse start Wednesday Morning. Think they are angry now? Just you wait.
This also brings to mind last night’s violence at a Trump rally in Reno, Nevada in which Secret Service whisked The Donald off stage for a few minutes. 33 year old Republican Austyn Crites was mobbed, hit, thrown to the floor, beaten and restrained by about a half dozen Trump supporters. The scuffle broke out over the sign he was about to hold up which caused someone mistakenly [or purposely] to yell “HE HAS A GUN!” You know how much a political sign looks like a gun right? The person shouted it loud enough for the Secret Service to hear the word.
The point here is the same as the SNL sketch outside NBC. The sign was not about THAT BASTARD, or LOCK HIM UP, or his FACE IN RIFLE CROSSHAIRS or references to BJs, it simply said REPUBLICANS AGAINST TRUMP. And it must have been a very small sign to be miskaten for a gun. Again the dark, the nasty, the negative and the violence.
Many politicos, especially Michael Moore of late, have been reaching out to this white nationalism running amok since SOME PEOPLE got in the White House. Defending these people because they have only been left behind while completely ignoring the racism, the bigotry and the sexism and the ignorance that is actually driving force of this horror show.
I understand, they go low we go high. Which liberals have pretty much been doing now for 35 years with what results? Republicans holding the purse strings for 20 years and the gerrymandered foreseeable future. 32 Republican governors with Republican legislators and giving us a vindictive fascist buffoon a point away from the White House. Sorry count me out.
An old American Indian folk tale for you…
One day a frog was sitting by the bank of the river enjoying the warm sun and cool breeze. It so happened that a scorpion approached him rather quickly as to inquire about crossing the river. “Frog”, said the scorpion, “I am in need of passage across the river upon your back. I am prepared to pay you with this mealworm that I have not eaten.”
The frog thought about it for a moment, then replied “Scorpion, I know that if I grant you a ride across the river upon my back, you will poison me on the other side. For that alone I shall say ‘no thanks’.”
“Frog”, again said the scorpion, “Please, I have no wish to harm you, I promise. I just need to go across the river to find more food. There is nothing left on this side for me to eat.”
The frog thought about it again for a moment and then agreed to help the scorpion get across the river.
Half way across, the frog felt a rather sharp, stinging sensation in his back. The scorpion had stuck him with his venom. “SCORPION!”, cried the frog, “You have killed me and you as well. Why have you done this?”
“Because I am a scorpion…and that is my nature.”
