When the pink coloration was labeled ‘natural flavoring’ or cochineal extract – no one was the wiser. Nor did we suspect that the coloring – used widely, was the skin and body of Peruvian bugs. Starbuck’s has confirmed the use of the ingredient, but no plans have been announced to change the name of the beverage – though if you have a suggestion, I’m certain they’re all ears, I know I am.
