State Senator Donna Campbell to enshrine religious bigotry into Texas constitution

Texas Christian queer hating Dr Donna Campbell

Wouldn’t you know, that Texas Tea Party Republican Senator Donna Campbell is an MD just like Louie Gohmert. And she has that new “Christian Castration” hairdo that is becoming so popular.

Ah, the power of Jesus Christ to turn even educated people into stupid nasty bigots is a wonderous thing. The power of Christ compels you. The power of Christ compels you. The power of Christ compels you.

This fine example of Christian bigotry is of course directed at queers, which gives Westboro Baptist free reign here in Texas. It also gives free reign for the Ku Klux Klan and other Christian racist organizations the joy of legally discriminating against Blacks, Mexicans, Muslims and of course allows the GOP to not even let a Democrat take crap on their premises.

But this is a local issue, the next step in dealing with the big ugly fight down here in Houston in which lesbian Mayor Denise Parker and the straight City Counsel recently passed equal access laws for gays and transgender individuals. Christians are fighting tooth and nail to make sure queers cannot take a leak or a dump anywhere but in the privacy of their own homes.

If these Christians get this bigotry into the state constitution, Texas cities and counties cannot pass equal access laws for anyone. Which is why Donna Campbell is taking the almost verbatim words of the standing Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act – which is the same crap that stands in all the states you would expect such bigotry  to stand – and writing it into the Texas Constitution.

Government may not burden an individual’s or religious organization’s freedom of religion or right to act or refuse to act in a manner motivated by a sincerely held religious belief unless the government proves that the burden is in furtherance of a compelling governmental interest and is the least restrictive means of furthering that interest. For purposes of this subsection, the term “burden” includes indirect burdens such as withholding benefits, assessing penalties, and denying access to facilities or programs.

Oh Lord won’t you buy a big can of worms. My friends all have okra I must make amends…

If conservatives consider atheism a religions as they indeed do, and atheists have abortions – or Christians for that matter – then we will no longer have any of that Pro Life nastiness outside my store or down my street.
