Satire is great. This piece on misplaced patriotism does not quite go over the line as much as The New Yorker cover showing the Obama’s as Muslim terrorists, but it does show the problem inherent in satire. Both Colbert and the New Yorker are in a different world up there in New York. They think everyone gets everything. Contraire my friends! The majority of American voters see only Donald Trump as a wonderful patriot protecting America and the flag and that other guy as evil. The majority of Americans think the New Yorker was serious with their cover.
Come on. Americans are not reading the New Yorker or golfing ON THE BEST GOLF COURSE IN CALIFORNIA, they are watching Big Brother on TV, and here in Texas shooting whatever they can get away with shooting. Which is now just about everything and anything except Police Officers and Whooping Cranes. And Whooping Cranes are making a compback so that may not last long.
