So how do Republicans, the political party of Jesus Christ, deal with how explicitly clear Jesus Christ is on not only these two quotes of his, but the entire content of the Sermon on the Mount? Or for that matter, just about everything Pope Francis has to say? You know, caring about he least of us and doing something about it other than making free market bootstrap speeches.
Well… I suppose if one can choose to believe that snakes talk, men live inside fish and that calling on invisible entities in the firmament to do your bidding is the basis of one’s reality, then one can also choose NOT to believe whatever one doesn’t like about any of it. In fact once one accepts the fantasy as fact, one can choose to believe that bigotry, war, violence, kidnapping little girls and eliminating all those who killed Jesus are the right things to do.
And of course the one that shows American Christianity for the nasty political crap it has become.
Christianity itself, founded upon the horror of an execution now promotes and celebrates executions. In fact the more Christian one is, the stronger the desire to strap someone down and kill them. Once one comes to terms with that crap, there is no going back.
