I admit to being a fan of that basic no nonsense rock and roll. Over the years I have found myself a dozen or so times each in the front few rows of concerts by the Rolling Stones, ZZ Top and ACDC. The common denominator of course being the R in R&B.
This 1968 rehearsal of Sympathy for the Devil tells the story of a rock and roll classic being born. How it goes from not much of anything to suddenly coming alive the very moment the rhythm arrives. Good to see the author of the lyrics to the song, Marianne Faithful, helping to add even more rhythm in the ou-ous.
Here we have the Rolling Stones, Keith at 70 and Mick at 69, doing it over again 45 years later with as much kick as they ever had. Turn it up all the way…
