This past weekend Dallas hosted the Texas Republican Party Convention. It went as one would expect, screeching about immigrants, praising war, and blaming the failed economy and high gas prices on environmentalists.
But news soon appeared that a sponsored vendor for the GOP convention was selling campaign buttons that said, "If Obama is president…will we still call it The White House?".
For a few days the Texas GOP refused to acknowledge it or do anything about it. But the liberal blogoshere – much like rightwing talk radio – pounded on it so hard that CBS got hold of it, then Yahoo and so on and so forth. Texas GOP Cuts Off Vendor Of Racist Button .
So now the Texas GOP has taken the $1500 that Jonathan Alcox paid them for the booth and donated it to Midwest flood victims. Alcox owns a website called republicanmarket.com and was in trouble for this same kind of thing back in 1999. What I find most amusing is that many mainstream media articles on this story end saying Alcox just thought it was funny and describes himself as an independent. Far be it from the mainstream media to claim a racist Republican is indeed a Republican. It’s the media stupid.
