Texas governor Gregg Abbot to rewrite US Constitution

Texas Governor Gregg Abbott calls on an American Constitutional Convention to change the US Constitution more to Texas and the Tea Party’s liking:

Prohibit congress from regulating activity that occurs wholly within one state.

Require Congress to balance its budget.

Prohibit administrative agencies from creating federal law.

Prohibit administrative agencies from pre-empting state law.

Allow a two-thirds majority of the states to override a U.S. Supreme Court decision.

Require a seven-justice super-majority vote for U.S. Supreme Court decisions that invalidate a democratically enacted law

Restore the balance of power between the federal and state governments by limiting the former to the powers expressly delegated to it in the Constitution.

Give state officials the power to sue in federal court when federal officials overstep their bounds.

Allow a two-thirds majority of the states to override a federal law or regulation.

So what the Hell are they always waving their little constitution books in our faces for if they don’t like it? This in not just Texas this is majority Republican ideology.

As you can see it mostly concerns repealing the most profound Supreme Court decision in American history, Marbury vs Madison (judicial review).

Next it calls for the same states rights issues that were decided in a civil war that cost us 500,000 lives and the civil rights movement that gave us the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights act. It is also pretty much what Cliven, Ammon and Ryan Bundy are asking for out in Oregon.

It’s much like deja vu all over again aka 1859 when the issue then – as it still is today – race.

What would be the result if this were to happen?  Why are they so sure of the two/thirds going their way? Because they can shed the 14th Amendment and 15th Amendments, take complete control of state wide voting rights, and promote an exodus from some states to others to once again create a region of shame.

Though it is a good idea to get them all bunched up in one place…
