These first words to a recent Houston Chronicle article jumped off the page at me. I am sure that to my fellow Dumbassians and reporter Terri Langford it was only a cheerful everyday story. It is not so much a school plan for students to compete in trap shooting – though schools promoting guns is rather a reach – but the inference that any 16 year old boy from Texas with a choice of playing with balls or guns would not hesitate to pick guns. Which is so deeply embedded in millions of Dumbasses throughout America, it has become the fifth rail of politics. Fight it and yer out.
I have competed in trap shooting and bird hunting over my life, a tiny part of my life, as tiny as my shotgun ownership is to me today. With the NRA claiming to "represent" 100 million "gun owners" in their propaganda when they actually represent about 4 million gun owners like Master Sijansky who have their lives revolve around guns, perhaps it is time to play their lie back to them. Let me rewrite a typical Houston Chronicle article that appears most everyday in our paper.
Gun Owner Found with Multiple Gunshot Wounds in Bellaire Ditch
Police found the bullet riddled body of G.D. Gunn, an armed local Gun Owner in front of his apartment complex in nearby Bellaire. Police suspect one D.F. Bullete as the Gun Owner who shot the other Gun Owner. Police also said this was an area where Gun Owners often shoot other gun owners, unarmed gun owners and non gun owners from moving vehicles.
