President Obama stepped up to the plate on Tuesday while at a baseball game in Cuba refusing to go hide under a bed with the news of a terrorist act halfway round the world in Belgium, refusing to give the terrorists what the whole point of what terrorism is, causing fear to disrupt our lives and our world. One of the few people smart enough to not give these religious murderers the win they want.
While on the Republican side the response is as expected; more carpet bombing, more torture, more gun sales and putting the blame upon 1.6 billion Muslims.
You know if we were to add up all the white Christian males who do so much of the mass shootings here, we find they have murdered more Americans than Muslims have since 911. So… Let’s not let in any Christians or White males into our country and set extra police patrols in white christian suburbs and towns. But you see, that kind of thinking does not enter into the Republican mindset, “First thing Scout, you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.”
But that really isn’t the reason for this article, rather it is how the bottom line of Republican politics is the same no matter the establishment or the base, it’s only a matter of which words to use.
“As long as we’re talking about Cuba policy I have something I’d like to get off my chest. I find the imagery of the President yucking it up with FARC terrorists at a baseball game yesterday when Europe is under siege by terrorists disgusting, absolutely disgusting.” Republican Base Right
“But at the same time, the symbolism is that the president stayed at the baseball game all day long where you would have thought he would have said, ‘Look, we’ve got more business that I have to deal with, I wish you well,’ get on the phone,” Establishment Republican Tom Brokaw.
