If you didn’t watch the third Republican debate from Boulder, Colorado, yet feel you should stay informed, your reprieve from the governor has come through – now you can see only the eight top moments, which have been carefully culled for your edification and viewing enjoyment. If you missed the show,but want to know who ‘won,’ there is no doubt, it is you.
You’ll ‘ooh’ as the moderators start right out with ‘gotcha questions like “What is your biggest weakness, and what can you do to improve it?” Whew…that was so much tougher than the cream puff questions Hillary was handed by Anderson Cooper! You’ll ‘ahh’ as Rand Paul blames the entitlements budget deficit on your fertile grandparents and their inability to keep their hands off of one another. Stunning sparks flew briefly- then fizzled when Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz stomped them out. Carly Fiorina got the coveted ‘most time spent speaking’ award ; but the Finger Pointing Frequency Award was a tie.
The theme for the evening appeared to be ‘blame the other guy and the the mainstream media,’ where (we’re told) conservatives just don’t get a fair shake. I can certainly see how they would feel that way, with Fox ‘news’ and their dedication to “fair and balanced” ‘news’ coverage.
Suzy Sampson concludes with this uncomfortably accurate thought.
“American democracy has become a spectacle, and that’s ok. If people are entertained, maybe they’ll participate with the same effort they put into voting for which sh**ty variety act American has the most talent.”
