Seth Meyers takes a closer look at the possibility of a brokered convention for Republicans, and Donald Trump threatens violence if they do. Seth brings everyone up to date on recent developments which threaten the very existence of the Republican party. Faced with Donald Trump’s sucker-punchers and white supremacists, the GOP must long for the days when the wealthy one percent toadies didn’t gather cheek-by-jowl under the same big tent with Trump rabble.
Seth’s comparison of Donald Trump to a New Jersey mob goon selling the protection racket is spot-on.
The movie mob goon might tell a rattled store owner something like this; ‘I’d buy the ‘insurance’ if I was you. There could be a – fire or something bad could happen. It wouldn’t be me, but there could be a fire if you don’t pay the money, ya know? ‘ Unprotected stores seem to attract approximately 90% more fire damage than unprotected businesses in mob films.
In ‘real life’ this was Trump on CNN, addressing the possibility of a GOP convention this summer in Cleveland:
“I don’t think you could say we don’t get it automatically. I think bad things could happen, I really do. There would be riots. I wouldn’t lead it – but bad things would happen,” predicted Trump with eerie certainty.
I think the Seattle PD ought to loan Cleveland their infamous ‘Star-Wars’ gear from the WTO riots. I hate to think of Cleveland’s Finest with only a bicycle and a bell between themselves and Trump’s aggrieved army of sucker-punchers and expectorators.
