Seth Meyer’s fascinating look at Trump’s paranoia about voter fraud, small crowd size and having no fun, illustrates vividly why aides worry over Trump’s freaky behavior! Trump’s first week in office is by turns scintillating and horrifying, but mercifully Seth Meyers expertly laces his report with humor.
In his first five days in office, Trump has doubled down on false claims of voter fraud. Aides are forced to control his access to all information that may infuriate him – which is the media. Aides claim they are forced to ‘push back against his worst impulses in the White House.’ I fear for the Lincoln bedroom, and trust that we collected a damage deposit.
According to the Washington Post: “Trump has been resentful, even furious, at what he views as the media’s failure to reflect the magnitude of his achievements…and he feels demoralized that the public’s perception of his presidency so far does not necessarily align with is own sense of accomplishment.”
People who stood behind Trump might want to reconsider his promises.
“I was the first & only potential GOP candidate to state there will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid.” Don’t look now, but the three programs are on the chopping block. Hey, he only claimed to be the only candidate who promised…It’s not like he promised for real. I’ll bet his stubby little fingers were crossed.
If keeping promises is good news, Trump is determined to ban Muslims and build that wall. However, if you favor Social Security, Medicaid or Medicare you have reason for concern. As Seth points out, “And if you want to travel to Mexico for cheap medications, it’s definitely bad news – because you won’t be able to get there because of a giant f***ing wall!”
