. Seth Meyers takes a closer look at the Trump Administration’s attempts to make up fake tragedies, and openly blame the court system for future terror attacks.
Trump’s travel ban has engendered so much criticism, that it’s time to create – (I’ll bet you know this one) – a false tragedy! Story lady Kellyanne Conway tells the tale of the Bowling Green Massacre. You’ll find it in the Fiction section. As always, bigger lies overshadow smaller, true lies with this crowd. The Massacre was created out of whole, ragged cloth from Obama’s now-infamous 2011 slowdown of 57,000 refugees.
Faced with a judge’s ruling against the travel ban, an enraged Trump took to Twitter blaming the “so-so judge” for putting our country in peril. “If something happens, blame him and the court system. People pouring in. BAD! Seth notes, it was probably the first Trump heard of two other branches of government. “Checks and balances? I thought it was just CHECKS!”
Incredibly, Bill O’Reilly became – briefly, the sane voice of reason.O’Reilly’s attempt to throw Trump a bone missed by a mile. Trump refuses to call Putin a killer, and basically tells O’Reilly he ‘don’t need no stinkin’ data’ when it comes to zombie voters…And why should he,”People tell me I’m right.”
We need Congress to exert scrutiny over Trump, who’s bent on perhaps eroding the very pillars of our democracy, and frankly, he embarrasses us. Demonstrating again why we love him, Senator Bernie Sanders spoke most emphatically:
“I hope McConnell and other Republicans have the courage to stand up to Trump’s authoritarianism. He says that everything is terrible and wrong, and he is the only guy who can fix it. We are not a one-man show, and we’re not another Trump enterprise. It’s called the United States of America. We’re not a business run by Mr. Trump.”
Seth – “And you can tell we’re not a business run by Trump because – for now, we’re still open.”
