Our Little Fingered Vulgarian blows his pig whistle to his racist following at least once a week, though lately it has been 3 or 4 times a week. There are three issues at play here.
First is the bigotry and racism of Arpaio’s very nature. How beloved he is for dressing Mexicans up in pink underwear and putting them in 110 tents in the desert. Trumpers LOVE THAT. And make no mistake about it, neither Sheriff Joe, Trump or his voters give one shit if they have papers, no papers or are citizens.
Secondly we have these two Joe Arpaio quotes:
I am the constitutionally and legitimately elected sheriff, and I absolutely refuse to surrender my responsibility to the federal government.
I don’t bow down to the federal government.
So forget the wanton Hispanic profiling and just go with his boisterous and felonious refusal to follow the law and do whatever wants instead. They have a name for that, fascism. While the President loudly reinforces not only the racism and bigotry at play, but the snub to law, order and human decency. History will remember Joe Arpaio just as it now remembers Bull Conner. And how will Trump be remembered? Gosh…
And lastly Trump is sending a message to anyone subpoenaed by the Russian investigation that closed mouths and loyalty will be rewarded bigly.
Republicans have not been doing all that bad with Hispanics even with Trump, until yesterday.
