Seth Meyers takes a closer look at Trump’s week after the presidential debate in which he accused Hillary of infidelity, and the New York Times published a report of Trump’s astonishing $900 Million loss. If you think Donald Trump’s presidential debate performance was lamentable, then – as ‘the Dude’ from the Big Lebowski would say, ‘That’s just your opinion, man.’ That happens to be the retort used by Rudy Giuliani and Chris Christie to ward off logic and reason. Whenever possible they insert ‘Trump is a genius’ into any interview or topic, as if it is the word of the week.
As is often the case, forces beyond him were aligning to foil the genius. Trump defended his debate performance to the New York Times: “I spent 50 percent of my thought process working the mike.” It’s likely that Seth’s chart showing the other 50% is accurate, in which Trump uses the remaining 50 percent to avoid saying the ‘b’ word.
I could say that the rest of Trump’s week saw a sea-change in serious policy discussion, and an unprecedented understanding of the issues by this underrated candidate. But I couldn’t say it with a straight face. Seth gives you the truth and does it with a much-needed dose of humor. Fortunately Seth’s mic is working at 100 percent too!
