About 50 years ago the Southern states were in front of the cameras denying African Americans the right to vote, the right to go to school, the right to eat, sleep, or take a pee where they wanted. We look back at their faces, ugly people, screaming about integration, and “n-words” and throwing rocks and little black girls going to school. It will not take 50 years for history to see those railing against equal rights for gays today in the same ugly way history presents the racists of 50 years ago. It is not only being on the wrong side of history, but the wrong side of humanity. The only real difference between the the Republican Base and the Taliban is a matter of degree.
