A craven anti-immigration group calling themselves "a concerned group of American citizens" in Utah have hit the bottom rung of the ugliness seen in Arizona and elsewhere, and there is no way that their actions can be explained as anything but evil and hateful racism. They have made a list of 1300 people, with all of their most personal information which could only have been obtained illegally from government databases. Their fond hope was that those on the list would be deported after the information was sent to both immigration and customs officials. Failing that, officials fear where the information may be disclosed next. This isn’t patriotism, it isn’t protecting America – or any of the arguments for the anti-immigration actions we’ve heard in recent months, this is indisputably a hate crime. While it is just as despicable and illegal to do to those who may be illegal immigrants, I can’t help but wonder with all of the information at hand, how they could fail to notice those on the list who are American citizens, could it be that they simply don’t care?
