On this President’s Day Special Comment, Keith Olbermann explores how fear often leads to racism. We like to believe we’ve made great strides in the past fifty years, but perhaps the same feelings and fear of the unknown are there, but wearing the guise of a political movement, such as the Tea baggers? We have passed laws making outright discrimination illegal, but perhaps we truly haven’t come that far in actuality. The fear of the unknown still exists, as does prejudice handed down like a ragged legacy in some families and communities. Keith Olbermann raises some compelling questions. Is this fear and hatred of the unknown what causes the proliferation of people
joined together in quasi-political groups, like the Teabaggers? One look at the faces, signs and slogans at an event, and that question is answered.
