Gold: I’m reminded that Rack Jite often reminds us of a key Limbaugh phrase, "Character Matters." Former Bush V.P. Dick Cheney and alleged comedian Dennis Miller recently shared a
snicker when the toadying Miller congratulated Cheney for "kicking Pat Leahy’s ass" in 2004. Cheney, bursting his buttons with pride allowed that telling the ranking Dem on the Senate
Judiciary Committee Patrick Leahy to "go F***K himself" on the Senate floor, was "one of the best things I ever did." Yep, it’s a knee-slapper, and true statement. Who is a better judge of Dick’s most vulgar – yet least lethal action in eight years than Cheney himself?
Where’s the love you may ask. Long before the F-Bomb, Leahy was one of many, including the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch to become suspicious, calling for a congressional investigation into whether Cheney, CEO of Halliburton until taking the VP spot for Bush, had a role in awarding a cushy no-bid contract in Iraq to the oil services giant, do ya think? Of course with both houses controlled by Dubya, the chances of an investigation, regardless of how much evidence warranted it, was unlikely…and why not. A bit of profit on the side, and conflict of interest by the war hawk VP in no way equaled the necessity for the sheer man hours taken up by the investigation into Bill Clinton’s sex life by Republicans.
Silver: Rep Brian Bilbray, R -CA : There is nothing to fear from the controversial racist law just signed, sealed, and delivered in Arizona. Discussing Arizona’s profiling bill on "Hardball," Chris Matthews challenged Brian Bilbray to cite a "non-ethnic aspect" by which law enforcement agents could identify illegal immigrants. "They will look at the kind of dress you wear, there is different type of attire, there is different type of — right down
to the shoes, right down to the clothes," Bilbray replied. Of course, law enforcement wouldn’t detain people based solely on clothing, Bilbray claimed. "They also know to look out for the ways in which illegal immigrants just act illegal." Perfectly reasonable, hey?
Bronze: James Murdoch, son of Rupert, Chair and CEO of Newscorp Europe and Asia. As the publisher of all Murdoch London papers, he can expect a bit of criticism. Expecting it,
and reacting graciously are two different things, as a rival editor soon learned when Rupert stormed in, and broke the unwritten code that proprietors do not attack one another.
