From the new format on ABC Sunday Morning pundit hour, Arianna Huffington questioned Fox News CEO Roger Ailes in allowing Glenn Beck to rile up the angry armed paranoid right-wing masses with his bigoted sometimes racist calls for blood and slaughter against liberals and Democrats. Ailes responded by citing posts on the Huffington Post calling him a "malignant tumor" with a "face like a fish."
Putting aside that Mr. Ailes does have a face like a fish and is a malignant tumor darkening everything around him, that is not what this obscure column at Huffington’s website said. It was "clenched fist" not "fish", and it was Fox News not Ailes personally which was properly defined as a malignant tumor radiating a dark hatred upon the nation. Secondly, after Ailes got the name calling all wrong, he managed to change the subject from inciting violence, sedition and perhaps assassination to juvenile name calling.
And to top it off, what Glenn Beck says is presented to millions of crazyass armed Americans (already on the edge of reality) everyday on the largest cable news network in America, while the column at the Huffington post was a one time deal lost in thousands of other columns on a website.
But sadly this is a well honed game the Republicans have learned to play. Huffington’s mistake was using the word "language" in one of her sentences which Ailes jumped on to switch the argument from a crazy person fermenting bloody violence to calling a pig a pig. It worked, Huffington lost the battle and Baba Wawa moved on.
