Seth Meyers takes a closer look at the recent violent clashes at Donald Trump rallies, and finds that our best weapon against Trump isn’t shame or accusation – but mockery, because a narcissist like Trump must be taken seriously, and laughter at his expense is verboten. Seth knows, he made fun of Trump once – long ago, and Trump remembers, like an elephant. Elephant – Republican party? It’s not a coincidence.
We waste our energy calling Trump a racist, fascist or a misogynist, it’s a compliment with his crowd, and he simply becomes more popular with like-minded life forms.
We’ve been going about it all wrong, but Trump revealed his soft underbelly once in a reflective mood, saying: .
” A lot of people have laughed at me over the years…Now, they’re not laughing so much.”
Seth suggests a passive-aggressive stance. If you carry signs to rallies, consider something that chips away at his ego…“I’m sorry, you look familiar, where do I know you from?” or “I learnd to spel at Trummp Universsidy.” How about “What is your rage compensating for?”
It can’t hurt to try. Seth Meyers has a great deal of insight, humor and wisdom that makes Trump seem a little less…Inevitable.
