I no longer believe anything my country tells me regarding international news. It doesn’t even matter to me if it’s CNN, FOX news, the WHITE HOUSE, REPUBLICANS or DEMOCRATS; whatever they have to say about international matters is biased, skewered, dishonest and so full of flag waving jingoist crap it’s just a silly sack of crap.
Over the years I have often tried to get people to understand such things by giving POV (points of view) lessons that only fall upon deaf ears. This I suppose has its history in what we call the Monroe Doctrine. That when it comes to military defense (or offense), the set of rules we follow are completely different than what we require other nations to follow.
We can put missiles, military bases, send ships, bombers and aircraft carriers anywhere we want for any reason we wish. We can invade whoever displeases us at anytime for any reason at all. But the OTHER GUY cannot. It’s very hard, in fact it could be said to be impossible, to get most anyone to admit to the bias in that. But I must carry on this futile task no matter. It’s my job.
Imagine that Montana, Maine an the State of Washington have left the United Sates to become part of Canada. That Canada aligned itself with Iran and there are Iranian troops training and working with the Canadian military on our border. That Canada took control of natural gas, oil, coal and pipelines in those states. Imagine some of the most Northern counties of the three states remained loyal to the United States patriotically an culturally. Imagine Canada attacked those counties killing 2000 Americans. What would we do? Would we have let those states go in the first place no matter what the UN said? Come on… Russia isn’t doing anything we would not have done worse!
You see… It doesn’t matter, there is no point of view when Mr Jingo is around. And the same can be said about Mr. God. George W Bush’s comment in Beijing on how Religious people understand how wonderful it is when religion spreads throughout a country. Like Iran. Or Pakistan. Or the Taliban. You see? The POV has never even occured to people like George W. Bush…
