We cannot blame these guys’ success in the polls on New York, for the antithesis of New York, South Carolina, elected Mark Sanford to the US House under even worse circumstances. For the same reason we cannot blame it liberalism or Democrats.
Personally I thought this was settled in 1998 when the Republican Impeachment backfired as Americans gave Bill Clinton record breaking positives above 70% during the debacle. And I would like to say this again 15 years later.
