Funny or Die pays tribute to the beloved Charles Schultz, in this slice of holiday life as seen through the eyes of a grown-up Charlie Brown and his urbane friend Lucy.If you thought Charlie would shed his clumsy persona with adulthood, you are an optimist!
As the scene opens, Charlie sprawls on Lucy’s couch, bemoaning his holiday blues; but it’s soon obvious that Lucy has problems of her own this time of year. Peanuts tradition decrees that an unloved and bedraggled tree is necessary, so Lucy drags Charlie Brown along in search of one. Amid the spectacular lights and displays of New York City, the pair finds the elusive spirit of the holiday.
Oh, by the way, they do find a tree. As one infamous New York resident would say, it’s ‘the greatest, the most gargantuan, most beautiful and spectacular tree in the whole entire WORLD’ – it’s even bigger than Putin’s!
