Recently the GOP has waded into the muddy waters of marriage and sexuality with both feet. In a book recently published, Congressman Steve Pearce (R-NM) likened the family to the military chain of command, with everyone playing their roles. Consequently, his wife Cynthia is to voluntarily submit to him and he will lead. Presumably he is qualified to lead by gender alone, and dual leadership is unthinkable. Likewise Mike Huckabee, now famous for his comments about women’s “unbridled libido” and “Uncle Sugar” famously signed a 1998 Southern Baptist Convention statement that a wife should “submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband.”
Lead, follow or get out of the way! America’s Best Christian Betty Bowers has located some other scriptures in the Bible pertaining to marriage, sex and gender roles, which Republicans might want to consider. There’s no submission in the scriptures Betty has found. There is: incest, multiple wives, harems, women together, doing the help, rape, slaughter and the capture of virgins. Furthermore, there is adultery and King Solomin’s astonishing 700 wives and 300 concubines!
Nowhere is there two men…That would be immoral.
