"It is way worse than I thought it would be, and that’s no joke.I thought this was going to be no big thing..I do not want to say this, but it is absolutely torture, I would consent to say ANYTHING" so said the shock jock known as Erich ManCow
Muller. That, dear friends is the reason those who work in intelligence claim torture is not a way to gain credible information. " I would consent to say ANYTHING." History is rife with examples. In a non-combat example, take the Salem Witch Trials. Rather than endure burning at the stake, girls would turn in others.
"I wanted to prove it wasn’t torture," Mancow said."They cut off our heads, we put water on their face". I really thought ‘I’m going to laugh this off." After a long siege of debate, with Muller coming down on the side which believes it’s not even close to torture, he said that he hoped his on-air test would help prove
that waterboarding did not, in fact, constitute torture. The video shows what was intended to be a prank and proof of waterboarding’s lack of cruelty. The unexpected part was their startling realization of the truth.
Muller’s stunt comes after a week when not only have President Obama and Cheney been exchanging words, but Jesse Ventura who endured waterboarding as part of Navy Seal training assured the audience of Larry King that it was indeed torture, and not a good way to elicit true information. Then again, cute as a button, Liz
Cheney while sticking up for dear ol’ daddy told audiences it was not torture. Who are you going to believe? The answer, ManCow and Ventura unless Liz would like to strap on a mask and give it a go.
"The average person can take this for 14 seconds," Marine Sergeant Clay South answered, adding, "He’s going to wiggle, he’s going to scream, he’s going to wish he never did this." The Video proves those words to be prophetic.
It was soon obvious that it wasn’t a light-hearted prank."It is way worse than I thought it would be, and that’s no joke,"ManCow said. "It is such an odd feeling to have water poured down your nose with your head back…It was instantaneous and I don’t want to say this: absolutely torture."
Imgaine, it was"absolutely torture" and he was closely attended by friends and had medical back up. Those who are tortured have none of those things, no notion of whether they will be killed, or if they survive how many more times that day
they may be strapped down for repeat drownings.
Last year someone I would think to be even less likely than ManCow tried it,the outspoken, often snarky Christopher Hitchens, writer for Vanity Fair. The conservative writer said he found the treatment terrifying, and was haunted by it for months afterward.
"Well, then, if waterboarding does not constitute torture, then there is no such thing as torture," Hitchens concluded in the article. While I can’t imagine them together in any other venue, It appears Hitchens has been joined by the unlikely company of ManCow.
