Evolution of Hip Hop Dance, Jimmy Fallon, Will Smith Viral Video!

Evolution of Hip Hop Dance, Jimmy Fallon, Will Smith Viral Video!

Jimmy Fallon’s premiere  as host of The Tonight Show was fantastic! Along with  fabulous guests, he and Will Smith took us down memory lane with the Evolution of Hip Hop Dance – a routine which has gone viral even faster than Jimmy’s classic and much loved “Mom Dancing” with Michelle Obama!

Jimmy’s twerkin’ hard to help Will Smith run down the dynamite Evolution of Hip Hop dance – with moves that not just everyone can (or is inclined to) do.   Jimmy’s dance reviews are always sure to please,  his “Mom Dance” with Michelle Obama is now a viral classic.  I confess I was going to save this for Saturday, when we often do less political videos, but this has taken off with millions of viewers. In the interests of keeping readers abreast of culture I include it early.

From the ‘Stanky Leg’ to ‘The “Leg Thing No One Can Do” it’s a history lesson through the last few decades…Yes, Hip-Hop dancing is that old! If you remember Break Dancing, you probably remember that ‘The Robot’ and ‘Pop and Lock’ came before.
The two dancers wore matching denim overalls, with one snap undone – is there any other way? Classic moves they ran through included: the Cabbage Patch, Running Man, Robot, Pop and Lock, Wop, Kid ‘N Play, Biz, Hey Ho, MC Hammer, Humpty Dance, Spank That (which Smith got a bit too excited about), Dirt Off Your Shoulder, Making it Rain, Crank That, Stanky Legg, Dougie and the Carlton.

Lesser known moves as interpreted by Jimmy and Will included: The Steal the Face (and swallow it and throw it back up), I’m About To Break Dance, Leg Thing No One Can Do, the Beastie Boys tribute Fish Eye and the post-Making It Rain dance Picking Up The Money Because That’s All You Had.”

Jimmy lost his partner, when Will Smith walked away, after Jimmy started getting down with the most recent and controversial move. This move  seems to be in everyone’s face these days – think Miley Cyrus…Proving there can always be too much of a good thing.
