Comedian Jim Jefferies ponders the changes that are taking place in the U.S.. At one time, a love of learning and knowing things used to be good thing! In the age of Trump – or the Age of Unenlightenment, things like education have lost their value. At least 58% of Republicans polled believe that higher education has a negative effect on the country, while 36% believe there is some value to it. Most are terrified that wild-eyed liberal professors are lying in wait to brainwash their pre-programmed right wing offspring. There are worse things than education for these kids. Fully 7% think chocolate milk comes from brown cows.
Although choosing Betsy DeVos was an unenlightened decision, Jim wonders if perhaps we’ve given kids too much positive reinforcement for minimum effort. Perhaps the culture were everybody gets a trophy for just showing up is to blame. Jim illustrates the point: “Maybe if little Kid Rock got a little less positive reinforcement he wouldn’t be running for the Senate.”
