The five worst Bills of all time, Cosby, Trumpcare, O’Reilly, Belichick and Buffalo. What Texas Representative Pete Sessions calls it “World’s Greatest Healthcare Plan of 2017” may just stick as Republicans don’t want to call it Trumpcare. Not sure way though, perhaps because Trump had nothing to do with it, and Paul Ryan everything to do with it. So is Ryancare the right name? Dumpcare? Trumplesscare? Tax breaks for the wealthy on the backs of the sick care? Jesuscare?
The flaw in all this by Republicans, Democrats and The Media is that every time health care comes into question, the media and some Democrat should respond by explaining the only viable solution.
A simple, easy to understand explanation of what a Single Payer system is. Join the rest of the civilized world, throw out Obamacare and Medicaid and give everyone a Medicare card. Instead of 30 years of blowing smoke and benefiting few as costs rise with poorer outcomes, spend our time deciding how much the healthcare payroll tax should be, what is covered and who dispenses it.
What I have learned most from seeing how civilized nations do this is that most all of them do it through government oversight dispensed by private insurance companies as non-profits, who make good profits in supplemental plans. Cheaper, more efficient with better outcomes and everyone is covered. The lines we hear about are for the free stuff. There are no lines if you want to pay or have a supplemental plan.
As an example I had a MRI a few years ago. The insurance company paid $3200, I paid $500 of it. In Canada a MRI paid on your own is $500.
