Questions posed by AFP shed no light. A spokesman would not say what the guard service wants with so many mice or how they are to be used. Russian daily Komsomolskaya Pravda speculated that the animals could be used to test the food of top officials. Even this august newspaper conceded it was more likely that the mice might be fed to the falcons which are used in the Kremlin to keep crows away from the heart of the Russian government. May I just say, these are very particular falcons, and flap my wings fast as I can, it just doesn’t fly.
We may have been far too distracted searching for the elusive WMD’s in the Middle East, leaving Russia to hatch this possibly nefarious plan. It is no secret that our once mending relations have been more than a bit strained under the Bush Administration.
