Abigael Evans, the four-year-old tot who snapped on the way to the grocery store while listening to election news on NPR, is now the poster child for shorter political campaigns. Alternately, she’s being considered for ‘Hysteria Will Get You Anything!’ Abigael tearfully explained that she was ‘tired of Bronco Obama (a catchy name, by the way) and of Mitt Romney. Say what you will, perhaps the child is ‘just tired’ but she is notpartisan. My only fear is that she speaks for a large segment of undecided voters, whose emotions alone will sway them!
In a campaign that has gone on long enough for Mitt Romney to change his official stance on several issues several times, Abigael is not alone in her frustration. NPR recognizing battle fatigue when they see it, issued the following apology to little Abigael and others who feel they are about to snap.
“On behalf of NPR and all other news outlets, we apologize to Abigael and all the many others who probably feel like her,” NPR said in a statement posted on its blog. “We must confess, the campaign’s gone on long enough for us, too. Let’s just keep telling ourselves: ‘Only a few more days, only a few more days, only a few more days.'”
