Well I suppose one cold argue that Rupert Murdoch is responsible for only 20% of what qur’ent tv pushes out, but what it pushes out is about 5 times worse than what Al Jazeera does.
And what’s the problem anyway? We are so distanced from the rest of the world, so parochial that we need some news from the outside looking in. I was excited some years back when we got BBC and History 2 on cable. Lots of documentaries from English speaking nations like Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia and India giving a different spin on things. But BBC went BBC AMERICA and H2 followed the trend in programing for dummies: Bigfoot, ufos, ancient astronauts, Bible stories and ghosts. But I must say the programming does a fair job of representing who we are.
