Jimmy Kimmel previews a new ad from Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort in Florida. Trump is heading to the resort for the third straight weekend of his presidency. The frequency of Trump’s visits may be what prompted the resort to double its membership fees. A basic membership has been raised from from $100,000 to $200,000 and it seems like members are getting their money’s worth. Just recently, club members got to watch Trump deal with a national security crisis over dinner. But Mar-A-Lago has been very clear: however bad it might look, they are not selling access to the President.
In related news, while visitors to Mar-A-Lago may be thrilled to be in the thick of things when a security crisis arises, taxpayers will be saddled with another $3 million bill for the President’s weekend.
Trump, who spent the prior two weekends at the Palm Beach members-only club, often criticized former President Obama during his vacations and many golf outings. This visit over the Presidents Day holiday weekend is expected to be part business and part pleasure as his wife Melania is expected to join him from New York. In another bizarre twist, Trump plans a ‘campaign rally’ over the weekend as well.
Trump, who claims to be a billionaire, impressed many with his vow to reject the $400,000 per year presidential salary. After expressing such largess, taxpayers can surely expect Trump to repay them for his weekly vacations out of his own pocket. That, friends is an alternate supposition..Just as substantial as alternate facts.
