I could not find the video of Tebow last night thanking Jesus first, but came across this graphic that says what the issue is really all about. Notice that the photoshopper (and company) are too goofy to grasp the "reverseability" of the statement. For it true then it will also be true that at about 11pm, on Saturday January 14th in New England, God will cease to exist.
[Though I will be cheering the Broncos on! I so want to witness the biggest, baddest, most watched Superbowl of all time. The sloppy beloved Jesus of Denver vs the cold competence of Aaron "The Secular Robot" Rogers. With Madonna in the middle of it no less! Holy Hockeylockers! God, Jesus, the Madonna and THE WORLD CHAMPION GREEN BAY PACKERS in the Super Bowl! Which will end with the proof in the pudding!]
There are three problems with Tebow and company.
First:
"When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get." Mark 6:5
Second:
"Well, first and foremost I have to thank my lord and savior, Jesus Christ, first, and, I also want to thank my teammates for the effort that they played with all day. And the coaches coached extremely hard…" Tim Tebow Jan 8th, 2012 in post locker room video clip.
Giving thanks to supernatural deities in your head BEFORE thanking your teammates who kept you alive and allowed you to win on the field means you are stupid or crazy or both. Though as the GOP primaries show so well, here in America WE LOVE STUPID AND CRAZY! Or as they say, he is not suppose to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, he’s a FOOTBALL PLAYER for christsake!
Third:
The issue that got Bill Maher in so much trouble. That Tebow and his Evangelical following flat out refuse to accept that if Jesus is responsible for WINS then he is also responsible for LOSES. That prayers to Jesus work when the outcome is what you want, while unanswered prayers do not count. It’s what it means to be FAITH BASED, reality does not matter.
