Rather than look like a deer caught in the headlights by this slug of a human being, the response Mr King’s should have calmly expressed to Gingrich’s long harangue was more than obvious.
Gingrich line that won him the South Carolina primary: "I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to run for public office."
John King’s more than obvious reply: "Thank you Mr Speaker for your synopsis of Fox News. But as to the question at hand, we know now you were cheating on your 2nd wife for 6 years. Was that more or less years than you cheated on your first wife?"
Imagine the audience reaction to that! Would John King make it out of South Carolina alive?
This is an example of the third rail of Republican politics.
First Rail: The racism inherent in the words they pretend have nothing to do with race but are all about race: Entitlements, Food Stamps, Welfare, Unemployed, Jobless, Social Programs, Immigration, Illegal immigration, Aliens and of course Community Organizers! Nothing much worse than organizing poor urban communities! Called the SOUTHERN STRATEGY it encompasses not only the South but every RED district in every state of the Union. It is what WHITE MALES are most angry about. It is who they want to take the country back from. It is what the guns are for. It is why working class whites will vote against their own economic self interest. It is the issue that was written into the constitution. The issue our greatest war and loss of life was about. The issue of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT forcing them to abandon 100 years of STATES RIGHTS apartheid. And why today "entitlements" and "Obamacare" are so reviled – forcing (stealing) their money to give to lazy unemployed Negroes. Which is why we are the only nation without universal health care.
Second Rail: The ridiculous crap that the 90% of Americans who are Christian are the victims of a National War on Religion. Again working class men and women voting against their own economic self interest. Religious intolerance and bigotry in the name of Jesus Christ is a winner for the Country Club Republicans to get the votes of all those stupid white people with washing machines on their front porch.
Third Rail: A seething hatred of Democrats, Progressives, Liberals, Europeans and the The Media that so overwhelms them they have fallen into such ugly extremism that they can no longer accept reality, reason, science or anything nice at all.
