While they were once a secret and shameful part of our past, white supremacists now feel welcome to climb out of their deplorable basket and join mainstream politics, thanks to the efforts of farsighted Republicans.
If you’ve wondered what the white pride folks are all about, there is no better representative of the group than a founder of the alt-right movement, Richard Spencer. Our own Susie Sampson plummets the depths of his patriotism…And finds he admittedly has none. No three cornered hat for him, he wouldn’t have fought the British. In fact, he’d have been on their side. What Spencer is full of – is white pride and the desire to fan the flames of white culture. However, asked to define white culture, Spencer draws a blank. No River Dancing, no German Slap Dancing, no Scots in kilts – well, you get the idea.
It is great fun to watch Susie catch him off guard and admittedly spinning his wheels. By the end, he is longing for the days before the revolutionary war back in jolly old Europe. In fact, when asked about ‘making America great again’ – those are the days he refers to, the days before Pilgrims and explorers landed on this continent. At least he shares that view with Native Americans.
