In this video treat, America’s Best Christian, Mrs Betty Bowers recites her poem which chronicles the early days of America. Illustrations provided by Mrs. Bower’s Sunday School for the Saved truly bring the words to life. Betty follows America from the time it was gigantic, frosty glacier to the time of George Washington. We see the First Undocumented Visitors, the First Undocumented Aliens and the Undocumented Explorers – none of whom really count, because well – they weren’t European.
It’s a pity that Chris Columbus, (badly in need of a GPS) gets all the credit. He should go down in infamy for paving the way for: America’s First Extremists! The Puritans, whom Betty describes as ‘Pure, quite annoyingly.”
Garrison Keillor may have captured the spirit of the Puritans, best.
“My ancestors were Puritans from England. They arrived here in 1648 in the hope of finding greater restrictions than were permissible under English law at that time.”
