Beers Boycott St Patricks Day Parades: Guinnesss, Heineken and Sam Adams

“Guinness has a strong history of supporting diversity and being an advocate for equality for all. We were hopeful that the policy of exclusion would be reversed for this year’s parade. As this has not come to pass, Guinness has withdrawn its participation. We will continue to work with community leaders to ensure that future parades have an inclusionary policy.” Statement from Ireland’s largest brewery

patricks day beer boycottAlong with Guinness, Heneiken and Sam Adams  beer companies the mayors of New York and Boston have also chosen to loudly boycott their cities’ St Patrick’s Day Parades in opposition to the intolerance and bigotry of the parade organizers directed at gays and lesbians.

The New York parade is organized by… Are you ready… The New York board of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. The hypocrisy flows like green vomit from this organization whose historic purpose has been to combat intolerance and bigotry directed at Catholics throughout Ireland’s history.

The Boston parade is organized by… Are you ready… The Allied War Veteran’s Council which has what to do with the Irish or with beer? Oops, I know my way around VFW’s and it is the cheap tap beer which is the draw…

But it is a two way street. After all, it’s about drinking green beer, getting very drunk and throwing up green vomit all over sidewalks and floors. Who would want to demean all that by officially allowing gay men and women to do the same? Next thing you know they will be wanting to get married just like anyone else. What then?
