Bill Maher had some seemingly harsh advice for Hillary Clinton, advising her to “go away” during a recent guest appearance on The David Letterman Show. My immediate reaction was – why so harsh Bill? We’ve stood by you, even when you shoved Ann Coulter into our living rooms. Why are you hatin’ on Hillary?!
Hackles raised, I listened to Maher a second time, before I put poison pen to paper, and decided that Maher probably intended his words more as tough love than as the harsh criticism they first seemed. The harsh bit came later. What Bill actually said was, “she should go away for a while, because we’re kind of sick of her already, and the more she’s out there at this point, the more we’re going to get sick of her.”
There may be some logic in what Bill is saying. Both Letterman and Maher agree that Clinton was sure to be the nominee in the 2016 presidential race, but neither mentioned any other potential contenders. .Perhaps Hillary could use a small break. Watch the video to hear Bill’s theory as to how Hillary was twice traumatized in a similar fashion, once by marital infidelity and secondly by voters in 2008 who also chose someone “newer and younger.” It’s a good thing Maher isn’t running for public office, judging from audience reaction to that joke!
